“Barcelona and Arsenal have reached a deal for the Brazilian striker Gabriel Jesus,” the Catalan club said in an official statement.
Spanish media reports claim Barcelona paid around €10 million ($11.5 million) to secure the 29-year-old forward, who becomes the latest addition to Hansi Flick’s attacking options.
Jesus arrives at the Spanish champions as they look to strengthen their frontline following the departures of Robert Lewandowski and Ferran Torres earlier in the summer.
Barcelona had spent much of the transfer window pursuing Atletico Madrid forward Julian Alvarez, but the Madrid club reportedly refused to negotiate with their La Liga rivals.
With the Alvarez deal off the table, Barcelona turned their attention to Jesus and eventually reached an agreement with Arsenal for the Brazilian’s transfer.
